Wednesday was sunny and another spring like day. The weeping willows are showing green and the maples red as spring draws closer. The Interagency Council will meet today at 12 noon at The Meeting Place. The Tryon Little Theater's production of "Petticoat Fever" opens tonight at 8:30 at the Fine Arts Center Other performances will be Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The World Day of Prayer, sponsored by the Church Women United, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Holy Cross. Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m. is the opening reception for the Two Papermakers at the Upstairs. Syd Nisbet will give a slide- tape exhibition of The Rocky Mountains Sunday from 8 to 9 p.m. at The Hearthstone Inn. Tuesday, March 9th, the Tryon Concert Association will present Mac Frampton, painist and Marco Valenti, soloist. TRYON. N C. 28782 Edneyville Girls; Tryon Boys Win District Titles The Edneyville girls and the Tryon boys won the 1-A District Finals Tuesday night at West Henderson. The Edneyville girls beat the Tryon girls 29-21, and the Tryon boys beat Edneyville 52-49 All four teams will advance to the Regionals at Bryson City with the top two teams from the Smoky Mtn. Conference. (Hiwassee Dam and Robbinsville girls and Hayesville and Cullowhee boys) The Tryon girls who had lost to Edneyville three times already, came out playing slowdown basketball, looking for the good shot, and it almost worked. Coach Steve Aldred's team was trailing 16-14 at halftime. The third quarter saw Edneyville making 2 points and Tryon failing to score and the Lady Yellowjackets took an 18-14 lead into the final period The Edneyville girls outscored Tryon 11 to 7 in the 4th quarter to win 29-21. The Tryon girls had the shots, but they wouldn’t fall. Janice Conner had her usual fine game for Edneyville and scored 16 points. Brenda Keys was high for Tryon with 8 points. The boys game turned out to be an exciting affair. The two teams split their games during regular season play. Tryon trailed by one point after the opening period but came back to take an 18-13 lead at halftime. The Tigers led 32-27 at the end of three periods and then held on as Edneyville’s Keith Continued On Back Page THURSDAY, MAR 4,1982 Honored Kaye Williams Kaye Williams, Assistant Vice President and Manager of Northwestern Bank in Tryon was honored as one of twenty-three nominees from across North Carolina for State Career Women of the Year The conference on Spotlight on Women was sponsored by the North Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs and the University of North Carolina Division of Extension and Continuing Education, and was held in Chapel Hill February 27 and 28. She was nominated for her outstanding contributions to her community, her family and her Attending the conference were Rachel Ramsey Ann Chatman and Thermal Belt BPW President, Lynn Scoggins The Bulletin 10c Per Copy Price 10c Per Copy Sheltered Workshop Construction Starts March 15th Representatives of the Polk County Sheltered Workshop met Tuesday morning with FHA’s Larry Phillips to complete final papers for the construction of the new workshop in the Polk County Industrial Park. At a later meeting with representatives of Cooper Construction Company of Hendersonville it was agreed that ground-breaking will start March 15th It is expected that the facility will be completed by the middle of September.
